If you’ve read any of the recent blogs, you already know how much we’ve invested into various AI technologies to make AgilePoint applications more intelligent than ever, and how you can take a phrase and turn it into a working business application in the blink of an eye. Well, look out, because there’s more coming to an AgilePoint deployment near you!
In the last installment, we showed you how Generative AI can be used to take a prompt, or app description, and turn it into an app that makes your work life better. This time around, we’re elated to pull the curtains back on the latest AI innovation around PDFs, and how they can be used to inform your next AgilePoint innovation. Or, as we like to say – from PDF to an app in a snap!
As we discussed in our last blog, process is still our bread and butter. Over the last 20 years, AgilePoint has established a track record of tackling our customer’s most complex process challenges with an elegant balance of powerful functionality and straightforward ease of use. We’ll continue to keep our eyes on that prize, but as we mentioned last time around, the data entry application represents a huge market segment and sometimes our customers simply need to scratch a tactical itch by maintaining data with an intuitive interface. This is going to be our focus for today.
How Does it Work?
We’re all familiar with PDFs, it’s everyone’s favorite Portable Document Format, right? As of now, these PDFs can serve as the basis for the next application you design in AgilePoint. Here are a few scenarios to illustrate how this will work.
Scenario 1 – Design Team Using Figma:
If your Designer team is anything like the internal team here at AgilePoint, Figma is often the first step when designing an interface for an application. It’s a tool that many are familiar with and is super easy to get started prototyping a design. You can quickly arrange fields or controls, implement look and feel, and even make your prototype clickable. It’s been a huge productivity boon for us, and many other organizations.
With the advent of the PDF to App functionality in AgilePoint, once your design team creates a mockup in Figma, all of the hard work has been done for you. Simply upload the PDF to AgilePoint, review and massage the results that come back, and your app is ready to go! From semi-functional mockup to working application just like that!
Scenario 2 – PDF Forms:
PDFs are just lovely. They’re smaller than most document formats, preserve the original appearance across device types, and some of them are even fillable! But as seasoned AgilePoint app designers, you know that the AgilePoint eForm experience brings a whole lot more to the table – integrations, rules and notifications, just to name a few!
So, follow the same process described above with Figma PDFs, and simply upload that bad boy to AgilePoint, and let Generative AI take the reins from there. With so many PDFs littered across most organizations these days, the possibilities are endless. We can’t wait to see what you create!
Scenario 3 – Exports from Other Platforms:
Though AgilePoint is among the easiest platforms to use, and brings unparalleled velocity from a development perspective, re-platforming or modernizing legacy systems is certainly a chore. However, with the capabilities mentioned above, AgilePoint is making it easier than ever before! Simply export the interfaces from your prior platform as a PDF, and you’ll be well on your way to delivering future-proof, adaptive applications on the AgilePoint platform!
Now as with any AI solution, there will still be a need to massage what gets generated. Perhaps it’s adding or removing a few fields, rearranging the layout, and what have you. But AgilePoint has your back and will make your development efforts much more productive, with a drastically shorter time to value than ever before. If this sounds too good to be true, watch the video below and see it for yourself!
Please note that this video is recorded while this feature is in limited-preview beta version. Some of the labels and icons might change by the time it goes GA but the general concept of generating an app would remain the same.
Hi Lucas,
Great video thanks for sharing. Ok go to to next level please. How about Master details scenarios? Can you appli this technology in the same way ? In the second scenario from this video you showed for exemple the field certifications. Can you define a conversion from pdf certification field to a detail “certifications” field for example in 1:N manner?
Thanks,
Jordi
Yes. It can support master-detail scenarios as well. That is going to be covered in upcoming blogs in this series. A lot more updates to come in coming weeks.
