Search screens are integral part of the overall end to end solution for any application created and you would hardly find any application which will not require a search screen to have quick reporting on already existing data.
Though it was possible to create search screens in past in Process based apps as well, with the introduction of Form Based Apps, it has got a lot more easier due to the new List View control. Moreover with the Page Builder component you would be able to create custom menu which can be used to expose these search links directly to the target audience without having to go through My Apps and make the navigation similar to what end users expect.
Lets see how to design a new custom view on top of already designed entity in Salesforce.
Please note that I had recorded this video when this feature was in beta version so some of the labels and icons would have changed since then but the concept of designing such app remains the same. While configuring auto lookup, you saw me selecting an option called “None” which indicates that don’t trigger this auto lookup on form field value change or form load and would be kicked off instead through button. We had renamed this option later to “Custom Trigger”. At the time of posting, this feature is already in GA.
