Business process management (BPM) and Low code platforms are going through a drastic shift. The traditional focuses of process efficiency and cost reduction have given way to agility and digital automation.
AI is the trending thing in the business process management (BPM) industry and it is continuing to come to the forefront. Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies are evolving faster than ever thanks to the maturity of cloud computing, BigData and the accessibility of predictive and machine learning algorithms and frameworks.
BPM traditionally excels at moving structured processes towards an automated manner. Unstructured processes on the other hand, are a different story since patterns aren’t so readily available. AI technologies including natural language processing (NLP) close the gap by providing sentiment analysis and the possibility to convert unstructured data to something more organized.
At AgilePoint, AI and Natural Language Processing have been at forefront of our product development in last few months and AgilePoint NX platform as such was always something which had all the tenants needed for creating AI driven apps due to its model driven as well as no code generation framework. Things like skipping process instances or rolling them back based on certain key decision factors governing the state of that instance were always strong points for the product but with Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing we are trying to take it few notches up.
Customers have been collecting a lot of valuable application level data and it is now to put that to some use to create self optimized processes using Machine Learning. However question always in everyone’s mind is that isn’t machine learning going to need to involve a data scientist who is very familiar with Python and R? Honestly that is what I was thinking a few months back as well but Azure Machine Learning Studio is a great tool for non data scientists like me to get started. Ofcourse knowing Python and R would help in advanced scenarios.
AgilePoint NX now has a new AgileExtender which facilitates AI driven process routing and it is just the beginning of many of the new things to come on this topic. As I speak there are massive investments being made by team on this as well as cognitive services front already.
I recently did a demo to showcase some AI driven routing and learnt a bit of usage of Azure machine learning studio which I have covered in the following video. I hope you guys find it useful to get upto speed on this topic and build a lot more use cases which can be plugged into your existing AgilePoint NX apps. I would be certainly interested in knowing more about your use cases and how you go about leveraging some of the new features in the product which facilitate that.
