In case you missed our last blog post, AgilePoint has redoubled our efforts relating to AI, making a strategic investment to layer it throughout the platform, and help our customers operationalize this earth-shaking technology. AgilePoint is committed to helping you break out of the rut of small-scale experimentation, and elevating the use of AI to strengthen and improve your cross-functional automations.
This installment of the AI blog series is going to focus on the foundation of any AgilePoint application – data. If you’ve been following us for the last years, you know that we’ve made considerable investment in making AgilePoint accessible for users of all technical ability levels, and it all started with a business user friendly data designer called Data Entity.
I’m New, What’s Data Entity?
Great question! In short, Data Entity seeks to make the creation of new tables as straightforward as possible for business users and Citizen Developers.
Don’t have a database to connect to? No problem, Data Entity supports the visual design of data tables using point and click, or by spreadsheet upload. On the backend, it’s all SQL Server, so your IT team controls where these tables get created, and manage and report against them just like any other SQL table. Pretty neat, right? Oh, and one more thing, unlike some other platforms we know, we won’t force you into using it or licensing it separately. It comes included with your AgilePoint subscription, and will always be an optional component.
That sounds pretty straightforward, you’re telling me this is getting better?
As with all things as of late, the emergence of generative AI seeks to make things easier, and make people more productive, and we’re proud to announce that generative AI is coming to Data Entity, and promises to make creating a data store for your application as simple as describing what that table will contain.
- ‘I want a table that tracks home inspection data,’ or
- ‘I want a table that stores customer purchase information’
It’s that easy, and in the blink of an eye, your table is ready to rock and roll!
But what if I need to massage the results that come back?
Have no fear, you can always ‘coach’ the AI to refine the suggestions. AgilePoint will make its best guess, but you have full control at the end of the day. Let’s say AgilePoint suggested a Text field for Order Status. No worries, you can always reclassify it as a picklist, and even use AI to generate standard values for your drop-down list!
Take a look at the short video down below, and as always, we look forward to your comments down below.
Please note that this video is recorded while this feature is in limited-preview beta version. Some of the labels and icons might change by the time it goes GA but the general concept of generating a data entity would remain the same.
